As we all know there are different types of Allergies. Some are Mild allergies, and some are severe allergies. TYPES OF ALLERGIES
Allergic Rhinitis:
Swelling of the nasal passages, congestion, sneezing and itchy watery eyes. This allergy is usually due to pollen, dust mites, animal dander and mold. As well as urine and saliva but the most common is environmental.
Sinusitis:
This is usually caused by a virus and is a sinus infection. Even though sinusitis is a sinus infection its sometimes related to or caused by allergies.
Asthma:
Asthma is inflammation of the lungs and airways.Uusually triggered by Allergic Rhinitis. Resulting in shortness of breath, coughing, chest tightness, and wheezing. We will talk more about asthma in its very own blog. Asthma can be life threatening.
Food Allergies:
Food allergies are very common. From mild cases to extreme anaphylactic shock. Most common food allergies nut allergy. Symptoms- Rash, vomiting, diarrhea, coughing, wheezing, swelling of face and tongue, hives. Each triggered by the type of food or how mild to sever the allergy is. Most common food allergy: Corn, Nut, Shellfish, Egg and wheat. There are so many food allergies out there. If you have a food allergy, please do some deep research. Food allergies can be life threatening.
Insect Allergy:
An Insect allergy is one of the most dangerous allergies. Most common- Bee Stings. Someone who is allergic to bee stings can go in to shock fast and sometimes not make it. Insect bites/stings can cause anaphylactic shock. Usually when someone is diagnosed with an insect allergy, they’re prescribed a EPI pen (epinephrine pen -Adrenaline-) it’s a pen with epinephrine in it that you inject into the person who is allergic. They always carry it with them.
Latex Allergy:
It’s a reaction to the man-made material. Causes itchy skin, hives and even anaphylaxis. It can cause the throat to swell and/or difficulty breathing.
Drug Allergy:
There are multiple types of drug allergies and a lot of them are sever. The most common drug allergies are- Antibiotics, ibuprofen, naproxen, Aspirin, sulfa drugs, chemo drugs, muscle relaxers, anesthesia medication. Antiseizure medications as well. Reactions can be from simply getting hives or having to be hospitalized. Please use caution on when taking medications. Make sure you know what you are taking and what’s in that medication before taking it.
Skin contact Allergy:
This is also called dermatitis, caused when someone has direct contact with an allergen. Can cause localized redness all the way to open sores. Common causes are acid and alkaline materials in the soaps, solvents, adhesives (can also be latex allergen) poison ivy, oak, anesthetics, rubber, and much more.
Eczema:
Eczema is a very common form of dermatitis. Usually a lifelong condition. Usually people who have hypersensitive skin. Symptoms include dry, itchy, scaly skin. Appears read and inflamed and can be little bumps as well.
Allergic conjunctivitis:
This allergy is also called Pink eye. Its s when the eye is swollen, skin is pink and/or red, there is a green/white colored goop forming. You can contract it by coming inContact with- pool chlorine, smoke, dirt, cosmetics and even shampoos. This is usually taken care of with inn a couple of days. Keep the area cleaned.
Chemical Sensitivity:
People can have reactions to- Tobacco smoke, Asbestos, Cleaners, synthetic and natural substances. There are a lot of different chemicals in this world and a lot of people have a sensitivity to them. Chemical sensitivity symptoms can vary from simple headache, rashes, muscle and joint aches all the way to memory loss and confusion. Chemical sensitivity can be mild or sever and may need medical attention.

You never know when you’re dealing with someone who has a allergy that is mild to sever and it is always good to know how to help them, if you have a allergy make sure the people who know you, know what you’re allergic to and how they can help you in case of an emergency.
