Course Requirements
Before enrolling in the CPR instructor course, you’ll need the following:
- Valid AHA BLS Provider Card
- Completion of BLS Instructor Essentials Course (Get Started Here)
- Completed onboarding paperwork
- Registration on both the AHA ATLAS portal and AlwaysCPR Instructor Portal

What to Expect During Training
Your CPR instructor course includes:
- Observation of a live BLS provider course
- Hands-on instruction with classroom training, skill checks, and written exams
- Monitoring sessions where you’ll be evaluated while teaching a full BLS or Heartsaver course
These must be completed within 6 months of your hands-on session.
What Happens After You’re Certified?
Once certified, you’ll receive your official AHA Instructor Card and be authorized to:
- Teach and contract BLS and Heartsaver CPR classes
- Market your own CPR courses under your name or business
- Post classes and access updates through AHA ATLAS
- Apply for free Red Cross bridging to become dual-certified
